
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration seized a record 2,212 firearms from carry-on luggage in 2014. This semiautomatic handgun was found June 15 in a carry-on bag at a security checkpoint at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Guns are far from the only weapons and prohibited items confiscated at checkpoints. On November 18, a wide range of objects, including fake grenades and ammunition, were confiscated and photographed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
