Fellow boater Paul Kabalin was returning from a trip to the Bahamas when he encountered the Sattar family about four hours into their battle with the swordfish.

Kabalin and his crew tried to help the Sattars get the fish aboard, but because it was blocking the only entrance onto the boat, there was little they could do. Kabalin, who is also a photographer, documented the catch for the family instead.
