Israeli company Water-Gen has developed a device for extracting drinking water from air. It's already being used by the military, but Water-Gen says its future is in civilian uses.

In 2013, the Israel Defense Forces took Spring to the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan, using it to filter dirty water into drinking water.

Spring fits into a backpack and weighs 12 kg (26.4 lbs). It allows for the filtering of 180 liters (48 gallons) of water from non-saline water sources.
