Christina Brockett is starting to embrace the fact that she is not a "Pinterest-perfect" parent: The parent who bakes pumpkin-shaped cupcakes, keeps an impeccably organized house and can get her family to look straight at the camera for a picture.

Pinterest fail: Brockett was inspired by a Pinterest photo to make cinnamon pinwheel cookies for the holidays one year. "Unfortunately, ours looked looked more like a slab of meat," she said. "Even when sliced, the cookies looked more like they belonged in an Italian deli rather than on a plate."

Pinterest fail: It turns out that Brockett is not an "egg-spert" when it comes to dying Easter eggs. "In an attempt to step outside the box last year, I read about using crayon bits and melting them onto the egg. The problem was, in order to have the ground crayons melt onto the egg, the egg needed to be hot ... not exactly a good idea with small fingers."

In the end, she was left with a rainbow of crushed crayons.

For Halloween, Brockett wanted to make some cute and tasty Pinterest-inspired pumpkin patch cupcakes. "They didn't rise and while I thought about compensating with 2 inches of icing, I decided that might not be the best thing to feed a party full of small children. They weren't necessarily pretty, but the kids found them fun and ate them readily."

Brockett's Tupperware cabinet: "There is a reason that I have doors on my cabinets. You're safe unless you open them. With the doors closed I don't have to look at this mess. Unless, of course, I need to store something."

Brockett said that her son's room started with a sailboat theme back in 2006. "Since then, he has added and added and added some more."

"Despite my best attempts to have him clean and organize it, more often than not it looks just like this."

Pinterest perfect? Who cares! "Aside from the lack of order, the lack of cohesive theme drives me crazy. But, I know that everything that he has chosen to hold onto and display in his room is a reflection of him," Brockett said of her son.
