Overcoming the odds —
Australian para-snowboarder Joany Badenhorst has come along way and overcome numerous barriers to compete in the Sochi Paralympics.

Farm accident —
The 19-year-old lost her left leg aged just nine after an accident on her family's farm in South Africa.

'She'll never make it' —
Doctors initially feared she would die given the amount of blood lost, but Badenhorst was able to pull through and eventually take up snowboarding.

Proud Australian —
Badenhorst will compete for Australia at the Sochi Paralympics, having moved there four years after her accident.
