Hyperbole and a Half —
Allie Brosh, creator of the online comic Hyperbole and a Half, recently published the book, "Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem and Other Things that Happened," based on her blog. This illustration, from her Hyperbole and a Half comic titled, "This is Why I'll Never be an Adult," inspired a meme. Brosh said her illustrated version of herself is "not of how I look, but of how I am. Deep down, I'm this absurd, weird thing."

Hyperbole and a Half —
Brosh's dogs, a neurotic shepherd mix she refers to as the "helper dog" and a blissfully stupid mutt she refers to as the "simple dog," appear often in her comic, including this illustration from the post, "Dogs Don't Understand Basic Concepts Like Moving."

Hyperbole and a Half —
Brosh has written frankly in the comic about her experiences with depression and anxiety. "Some people have a legitimate reason to feel depressed, but not me. I just woke up one day feeling sad and helpless for absolutely no reason," she wrote in the post called "Adventures in Depression." It was a year-and-a-half before she posted a follow-up, "Depression Part Two."

Hyperbole and a Half —
Brosh published the book, "Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem and Other Things That Happened," in October.

Hyperbole and a Half —
Allie Brosh launched Hyperbole and a Half in 2009, while she avoided studying for physics, she has said. "When I started writing, I was a bit frustrated to not have access to any of these comedic tools. Adding drawings fixed everything," she told CNN. "Suddenly, I had access to facial expressions, body postures, gestures, even implied tone."
