To celebrate the best of African street art, CNN iReport asked for your submissions of the beautiful, political, or just plain fun.South African graffiti artist FALKO1 sent images of his striking work on walls in and around Cape Town.

Cape Town, South Africa —
"I've been a graffiti artist with a strong traditional Hip-Hop influence since 1988," FALKO1 told CNN iReport. "I don't really consider myself a street artist but a graffiti artist/writer who dabbles in 'street art.'"

Maputo, Mozambique —
"Please, Peace" was created in Maputo, Mozambique, by rapper and graffiti artist Shot B.

Kubuneh, Gambia —
Brazilian Rimon dos Santos Guimaraes captured this image of a glorious mural painted on a school in Kubuneh, Gambia, by his friend Noha in June this year.

Fes, Morocco —
iReporter Julee Khoo was intrigued while traveling in Morocco to see these marked out boxes on the walls of the oldest part of Fes. The boxes are used by political parties to place election posters, but some paint their party's symbol instead.

Lago, Nigeria —
Nigerian iReporter Edidiong Uwemakpan snapped this image of a mural on the offices of Orange Academy, a brand advertising college in Lagos, Nigeria. The artwork, done by local artist Kimson, was commissioned by the college to inspire its students.

Cape Town, South Africa —
Graffiti is an extremely popular form of expression in Cape Town and iReporter Guillaume Ducros has been capturing local art while living in the city. "After the rain comes sun" was created in Woodstock, Cape Town, by Faith47, one of the country's most famous street artists.

Ducros captured another mural by Faith47, in Cape Town. "All these creations have a strong message for the South African population," he said.

Soweto, South Africa —
Documentary-maker Shafiur Rahman asked British graffiti artist Ben Slow to paint an image of anti-apartheid activist Ruth First on the side of a home in Soweto last year. "Street art, I believe, has an essentially political manifesto," Rahman said. "It amounts to an act of defiance. In this instance it is an act of commemoration."

Great Rift Valley, Kenya —
Taken on the road through the Great Rift Valley between Nyeri and Lake Begoria. "Driving in rural Kenya provides an opportunity to take in the incredible colour and vibrancy provided by the shop fronts and names in villages all over the country," says iReporter Sally Walton.
