Fierce females —
Introducing the first all-female team in over a decade to compete in one of the most grueling sailing races on the planet -- the Volvo Ocean Race. Clockwise from bottom: Carolijn Brouwer of the Netherlands, Annie Lush and Sam Davies of Britain, and Liz Wardley and Sophie Cizcek from Australia.

Dressed for success —
The five professional sailors will be part of an 11-strong crew racing around the globe in a nine-month voyage, stopping at nine countries.

Water works —
Launched in 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race is one of the toughest sporting competitions on the planet, claiming three lives in the first race alone.

Sea legs —
"It's very physical and it's definitely become a lot more physical over the years --the sails are getting bigger, the boats are going faster," said three-time race winner, Brad Jackson (pictured with Tony Mutter during last year's competition).

For Magnus —
It will be an emotional campaign by the Swedish Team, whose coach Magnus Olsson (pictured) passed away following a stroke last month. The 64-year-old Swedish sailor competed in six Volvo Ocean Races.
