"In all my dreams as a child, I was always a girl -- never a boy," says the 62-year-old. The eldest of three boys growing up in a working-class Irish Catholic family in Peckham, south London, Maloney says she realized she was different from her brothers from the age of three.<br />

"I don't mind people accidentally calling me Frank, because there's no point. I actually feel it's the militants in the transgender community that are stopping us from progressing," says Maloney.<br />"I've heard stories of people being misgendered and they go mad about it. But you've got to understand that we lived a different life until we transitioned."
