
The Real deal —
A sign that this was a relatively demure window is underlined by the fact that Real Madrid's capture of Norwegian teenager Martin Odegaard generated the second highest volume of tweets during January. Juan Cuadrado's move to Chelsea was the most discussed, with former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes' move to Manchester United third.

Cuadrado gets the Blues —
Chelsea's capture of Cuadrado from Italian side Fiorentina was the stand out deal in the English Premier League on what was otherwise a very low-key final day in the January transfer window. A total of £130 million ($195m) was spent by English clubs, compared to £835 million ($1.25 bn) in the summer window.

Brilliant Bony —
Wilfried Bony, the Ivory Coast forward, made the move from Swansea City to Manchester City in January. The forward, who joined for a fee in the region of $38 million, will make his debut when he returns from Africa Cup of Nations duty.

Gerrard targets new Galaxy —
Steven Gerrard will leave boyhood club Liverpool to join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the Premier League season.

Podolski moves on —
Lukas Podolski swapped Arsenal for Inter Milan after becoming frustrated with life in London. The Germany international signed on loan until the end of the season.

Busy Inter —
Podolski wasn't the only arrival at Inter as the Italian club signed Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee. During last summer's World Cup Shaqiri scored a hat-trick against Honduras to help Switzerland book its place in the last 16.

Torres returns —
Fernando Torres returned to his beloved Atletico Madrid following a loan move from AC Milan. Torres scored 84 goals in 214 appearances for Atletico between 2001-2007.

Fab Frank —
Frank Lampard extended his loan deal at Manchester City from New York City. The midfielder has enjoyed a successful season in the Premier League following his departure from Chelsea.

Paulista's a Gunner —
Villarreal's Gabriel Paulista made the $17 million move to Arsenal after impressing in Spain's La Liga. The move saw Arsenal's Joel Campbell move the other way on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Kramaric comes in —
Andrej Kramaric, the Croatia striker, earned a move to the Premier League with Leicester City after signing a deal until 2018. The fee was reported to be in the region of $13.5 million.

Eto'o exits —
Samuel Eto'o left Everton after making just 20 appearances for the club. The forward, who arrived at Goodison in August, signed for Italian club Sampdoria until 2018.

Destro's Milan move —
Mattia Destro signed for Milan on loan from Roma with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season. The 23-year-old was keen to get more game time.

Schurrle signs —
Andre Schurrle completed a deadline day move back to German football with Wolfsburg. Schurrle, who enjoyed mixed fortunes at Chelsea, signed a deal until 2019.
