Skier Lindsey Vonn, in her comeback season after a serious knee injury, won World Cup titles in the downhill and the super-G this week in France.

Vonn clinched her 62nd World Cup victory in January, equaling a record that had stood for 35 years. She would later break the record.

Vonn had to be airlifted off the slopes at the 2013 World Championships after a horrific knee injury. It led to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Vonn's rehabilitation was overseen by both Red Bull and the U.S. Ski team, a case of a slowly-slowly approach to make sure no further damage was done to the joint.

Vonn made a sensational return to action in August 2013 at a U.S. training camp in Chile's Andes Mountains. She insisted her damaged right knee felt as good as her unaffected left knee.

Vonn stretches her troublesome knee as she prepares for downhill training at Copper Mountain, Colorado, in November 2013.

Vonn suffered a setback in December 2013 and had to pull out of a downhill race. She was not able to compete the next year at the Winter Olympics in Russia.

Vonn's return to competitive skiing came under heightened scrutiny because of her relationship with golfer Tiger Woods.
