Another one of the "big four" state-owned banks that have a stranglehold on the financial services sector, Agricultural Bank of China is particularly active in rural areas, and makes more loans to more small and medium-sized businesses than its peers.

The bank is working to modernize and expand operations in overseas markets. Its brand value increased 12% over last year to $19.3 billion.
