Israel to deport sick patients back to Gaza

At least 89 Palestinian patients and their companions from Gaza undergoing treatment in Jerusalem are at risk of deportation by Israeli authorities, according to families and medical teams. Many of the sick patients were evacuated before the war in Gaza began two years ago, and some are now afraid to return to the battered enclave, where 94% of hospitals there have been damaged or destroyed, according to the WHO. Most have agreed to return, some are being sent against their will. The WHO told CNN that the organization had been asked by the Israeli military to facilitate the transfer of patients early next week. CNN Producer Abeer Salman reports on their cases.

Displaced Palestinians in Gaza woke up to inches of water flooding their tents, after heavy rainfall overnight left their shelters and belongings soaked with no way to dry them out. Officials in Gaza have received “hundreds of pleas for help,” with nonexistent resources to meet that need, according to the spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense. According to the United Nations, more than 1.4 million people in Gaza are in need of emergency shelter items and more than 320,000 housing units have been damaged by Israeli military attacks.
