The "art" of the javelin: "Olympic Picasso" creates art for inspirational fellow javelin thrower
May 15, 1983. American Tom Petranoff shatters the world record javelin throw by 3 meters, a throw which led to alterations in the javelin's design in order to shorten distances. To honor that day's 40th anniversary - a fellow javelin athlete, Roald Bradstock - affectionately known as the "Olympic Picasso" after his artwork featuring Olympic events was displayed at multiple Olympic Games - has created six pieces of art in Petranoff's honor. Here's the fun part: Petranoff hasn't seen the pieces yet - and CNN exclusively is there for his reaction.
