About

Taylor Ward has been a part of CNN’s coverage of every major US and international weather story since 2008, from hurricanes and typhoons to floods and droughts, as well as heat waves and blizzards and how our changing climate impacts these events.

He began his career at CNN in 2008, while completing his master’s degree Earth and atmospheric science at Georgia Tech, and joined the World Weather Department in 2010.

Like many meteorologists, Taylor has been passionate about the weather from a very young age. Growing up in North Carolina, he admired the power and destructive force of hurricanes, leading to his love of tropical meteorology.

He was nominated for an Emmy for his role in CNN’s coverage of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season.

Taylor has a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University.

He also loves the outdoors and spending time with his family and is an avid sports fan.
