Jeffrey Kopp is a Field Producer for CNN based in the network’s San Francisco bureau.
He oversees editorial strategy and logistics for breaking news across the American West, while reporting on West Coast issues, health, the climate crisis, and the LGBTQ community.
Kopp has been on the front lines of major stories, including the 2023 Maui wildfires — the deadliest in American history in over a century — as well as anti-war protests on college campuses and the Golden Gate Bridge, the OceanGate submarine disaster, and the trial of the alleged murderer of four University of Idaho students.
He reported and produced one of CNN’s most-watched stories on abortion rights, profiling a woman who defended a clinic and shared her journey on TikTok. His reporting also includes the rise of autonomous vehicles in San Francisco, violence against the AAPI community in Oakland during the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis at Lake Mead, and the debut of San Francisco’s — and the nation’s — first drag laureate.
Fluent in Spanish, Kopp began his CNN career in 2016 as an intern at CNN en Español’s New York bureau.
A native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, he holds a Bachelor’s degree from New York University (NYU).
