As Israel is weighing its response to Iran's attack over the weekend. It's hitting Gaza with airstrikes. The health ministry in Gaza says 56 people were killed and 89 were injured in the strip over the past 24 hours from Israeli attacks. The ministry did not give a breakdown of civilians and fighters among the casualties. And CNN cannot verify the figures. Meanwhile, Israel is facing international pressure not to retaliate against Iran's weekend attack. Washington says it will impose new sanctions on Tehran, with other allies now looking to coordinate their response. CNN's Nada Bashir has more.

Today, the British foreign secretary, David Cameron, is in Israel. He said that the UK is calling for restraint and that if Israel is to respond, to do so in a way that is limited and does not cause escalation beyond the region. And this is certainly being felt by regional leaders who have for some time now held concerns that these proxy developments between Iran and Israel could spread to more direct engagement.

The Senate is set for a showdown today over the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. House Republicans have delivered articles of impeachment for what they say is his mishandling of the southern border, but it's not expected to be much of a trial, as Democratic senators and some Republicans suggest the Senate could dismiss the case as early as today, while other Republican senators insist there must be a full trial.

If they take a weaselly way out of this betray our constitutional obligation, we have an obligation on our side to make clear that that's not okay.

Multiple constitutional experts say the evidence against Mayorkas does not reach the high bar set by the Constitution for high crimes and misdemeanors.

An 81 year old man has been charged with murder after he shot a female Uber driver he mistakenly thought was working with a scammer to extort him. The Clark County Sheriff's Office says William Brock told police he'd been getting threatening phone calls from a man trying to force him to wire money to free a jailed relative, who also threatened his family. When 61 year old Loletha Hall arrived in her Uber at Brock's residence to pick up a package, Brock shot her multiple times, saying in a 911 call after the shooting that he thought she was connected to the scam caller and would kill him and his family. Hall was taken to a local hospital, where she died. Court documents show Brock has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder and posted bond. CNN has reached out to Hall's family and to Brock's defense attorney for comment.

President Joe Biden is expected to call for more tariffs on Chinese steel, maybe even tripling them. Right now, the tariff is 7.5% on Chinese steel and aluminum. It comes as Biden brings his economic competition pitch to Pittsburgh today. The heart of the US steel industry in the swing state of Pennsylvania, the domestic steel industry remains critical for building everything from cars to appliances to roads and bridges. Biden has made investment in American manufacturing a key plank of his economic policy, even as voters continue to give him low marks on his handling of the economy.

A year's worth of rain has fallen on what's usually considered a desert city. That's next.
00:03:37
Flash flooding has hit Dubai after a year's worth of rain fell in just 12 hours, turning roads into rivers. Water is poured into some homes and businesses as flights in and out of Dubai continue to be disrupted. Weather observations show nearly four inches, or 100mm of rain fell yesterday, with the effect of that flooding continuing to be felt today. As CNN's Eleni Giokos explains.

One thing you've got to remember this is a desert landscape. The soil doesn't absorb as quickly. And also the infrastructure is not geared to handle this kind of rain. They aren't enough, drainage systems, most of that that does exist. Basically blocked by sand.
