About

Javier de Diego is the Executive Producer of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? with new episodes streaming Fridays on Max and The Chris Wallace Show with new episodes airing Saturdays at 10am ET on CNN and also on CNN Max. A nearly 16-year CNN veteran, de Diego has worn many hats both in the field and in the control room. Before being promoted to lead the Wallace team, he was the Senior Broadcast Producer for The Lead with Jake Tapper, where he oversaw the editorial vision and production for the weekday news program for almost four years. During his time on that show, de Diego produced two interviews with Pres. Joe Biden and was the second-in-command during CNN’s robust 2020 presidential election coverage.

Previously, de Diego spent several years as a Supervising Producer in the field – based both in Washington and in Miami. He covered several major stories including the Charleston church massacre, the Ferguson riots, Pope Francis’ trips to South America and Cuba, Fidel Castro’s funeral, and many stories in between. He also worked closely with Special Correspondent Jamie Gangel on longform interviews, as well as a documentary on the life and legacy of former Pres. George H.W. Bush.

De Diego’s career at CNN started at CNN International in Atlanta helping to launch a new fast-paced program for a primetime European audience. He then transitioned to Washington, where he worked on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer during the Arab Spring, the Boston Marathon bombing, and winning an Emmy for CNN’s coverage of the 2012 presidential election.

He began his career in local news as a producer/reporter for WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina and later as a producer at WTTG-TV in Washington, DC. A native of Miami, de Diego is the son of Cuban exiles and a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Telecommunication and Broadcast Journalism. He lives in Virginia with his husband.
