About

Flora Charner is the Weekend Director of Coverage for CNN International Newsgathering, based in Atlanta, Georgia.

In her role, Charner coordinates CNN International newsgathering operations and the international news desk on the weekend. She also manages teams of correspondents, producers and crews in CNN’s Latin America bureaus and collaborates across CNN’s networks and platforms.

An Emmy Award-winning journalist, Charner previously served as CNN’s Senior Editor for Latin America. Prior to that position, she was a field producer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she worked on the network’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics, the Zika outbreak and the impeachment process of President Dilma Rousseff.

Before joining CNN, Charner held writer and producer roles at Al Jazeera English, America’s Quarterly and Associated Press Television in Brazil and Washington DC.

Charner graduated cum laude from Emerson College with a BS in Broadcast Journalism. She holds an MA in Politics from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
