Hey there! From CNN, I'm Krista Bo with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, May 7th.
00:00:07
Stormy Daniels is on the stand testifying in the criminal hush money trial against former President Donald Trump. The adult film star was paid $130,000 to keep her from going public about her alleged affair with Trump before the 2016 election. CNN's Paula Reid explains what she can and can't offer the prosecution.

She will be able to talk to them about this affair, which Trump has denied. She'll be able to talk about renewed interest in her story. In late October 2016, after the Access Hollywood tape, she can help bolster the prosecution's argument that suppressing her story was done to help Trump win the white House. But what she can't help is the actual charges at the heart of this case, which are 34 counts of falsifying business records. Unless there's something that they're going to surprise us with today, she doesn't really have any knowledge of how Michael Cohen was reimbursed by the Trump Organization.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Israel's military said it has seized the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, which is a vital entry point for aid to Gaza. Hamas accuses Israel of a, quote, "humanitarian catastrophe." And Egypt is calling Israel's move a, quote, "dangerous escalation." CNN's Jim Sciutto explains why this crossing between Egypt and Gaza is so critical.

Because it's not just for food coming in, which is already a crisis there. You have U.N. officials talking about near famine or perhaps even famine conditions, some part in Gaza. But it's also a key point for the wounded to get in and out and to get the hospitals in Egypt. So when you close this crossing, you are closing a lifeline to Gaza. And when you think of this in the context of the ongoing ceasefire talks, it's frankly difficult to see how you come to a cease fire agreement when Israel is not just closing this, but moving into Rafah for an operation that. Well, as you know, U.S. officials have been cautioning for some time they don't see how you carry that out without significant civilian casualties.

Israel's prime minister said today the country's military operation in Rafah has two goals returning hostages held in Gaza and eliminating Hamas.
00:02:05
'As the events of Ratha unfold in the war reaches a key moment today, President Joe Biden is calling for a fight against anti-Semitism. Biden is delivering remarks at the Holocaust Memorial Museum's annual Days of Remembrance ceremony on the Capitol, and is expected to connect that moment in history to the current rise of anti-Semitism in the U.S.. This comes as the president's support for Israel is under intense pressure. As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza grows and university students continue to protest Israel, police cleared a protest encampment at the University of Chicago this morning – the latest school to crack down on demonstrators. Biden has reiterated that students have a right to peacefully demonstrate, but rejected antisemitism arising from these protests.
00:02:50
'A federal judge is rejecting threats from the Alabama Republican attorney general to prosecute groups for helping arrange out-of-state abortions. The preliminary ruling said prosecuting people who help women travel to get lawful abortions elsewhere would violate fundamental constitutional rights. This means a lawsuit brought by organizations that help people access out of state abortions can move forward. Red states across the country have either banned or severely limited access to the procedure in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade, forcing many women to cross state lines to get an abortion. A spokesperson for Alabama's A.G. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Coming up, artificial intelligence just gave one singer his voice back.
00:03:39
Randy Travis credits God's grace with his return to music along with artificial intelligence. The country singer suffered a severe stroke in 2013 that left him unable to walk or speak. He's regained both of those abilities, but still struggles. But now, Travis and others were able to take his voice from old recordings and use it for a new song where that came from, with the help of AI that came from. To do that, a different artist recorded the song first, and then technology was used so Travis's voice could replace the lyrics.

Alright, that's all for now. I'm Krista Bo and our next episode drops at 3 p.m. eastern. Till next time.
