'Donald Trump's defense team cross-examined adult film star Stormy Daniels in his criminal hush money trial today. They're trying to discredit her testimony and move for a mistrial, arguing that Daniels explicit testimony went too far. The judge denied it, but will issue language to limit some of Daniels testimony. During the defense's questioning, Daniels testified that she, quote, "hates" the former president and wants him, quote, "held accountable." Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels $130,000 before the 2016 election to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump, which the former president denies. The hush money payment and how it was reimbursed is at the heart of the charges. Separately, Trump's classified documents trial in Florida is not set to start this month as expected. The judge overseeing the case has indefinitely postponed it, citing significant issues around classified evidence that would need to be worked out before the federal criminal case goes to a jury. A new date hasn't been set, but the judge's order pushes the trial closer to the 2024 election.

The last remaining operational hospital in Russia is calling for medical backup as injured patients stream in. It comes as Israel continues its military operation in Rafah that it says aims for the elimination of Hamas, despite international pressure, opposing a full scale invasion and Hamas agreeing to a draft ceasefire deal that Israel has rejected. Israeli airstrikes on Rafah have killed at least 27 people since Monday evening, which CNN confirmed through hospital sources in the southern Gaza City. Multiple video so intense Israeli military activity in the area, especially in eastern Rafah and in the area surrounding the crossing into Egypt. More than a million displaced Palestinians have been sheltering in Rafah, but about 100,000 of them in the eastern part of the city were told to evacuate to a coastal town Monday that aid groups say is inappropriate for habitation.
Mike Johnson, House Speaker

It's not a negotiation, okay. I take, Marjorie's ideas and everybody else's equally, and we assess them on their own value and where we can make improvements and changes and all of that, we do.

That's House speaker Mike Johnson after meeting today with Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is threatening to hold a vote to oust him from the speakership. She initially filed a motion to oust the Speaker in March amid conservative anger over Johnson's handling of the government funding fight, including providing aid for Ukraine. Johnson has said repeatedly he will not resign and warns that ousting him could cause chaos in the House. Greene has refused to specify when she may force the vote, which would likely fail due to Democrats saying they'd vote to kill such an effort.

The 31-year-old is accused of being the mastermind of a cybercriminal group that has extorted $500 million in ransom payments from thousands of victim organizations worldwide. The cybercriminal group LockBit has been described by experts as the most prolific ransomware gang in the world. Khoroshev was charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, extortion and wire fraud, among other crimes. CNN has attempted to contact him for comment.

Goodbye to the Boy Scouts of America. Hello to Scouting America. The organization says it will rebrand in order to emphasize its commitment to inclusion, according to president and CEO Roger Krone. He told reporters today that he believes it's time for the name to better reflect the youth who are currently enrolled in its programs. He said almost 20% of them are girls are young women. The name change will take effect in February of 2025, the organization's 115th anniversary. In recent years, the Boy Scouts of America has faced controversy over widespread allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct. The organization filed for bankruptcy in 2020 after spending more than $150 million to settle abuse lawsuits, according to previous CNN reporting.
