Tiger Woods hit a new low Saturday, carding the worst round of his professional career at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio and ended with another unwelcome record after completing the prestigious event.
Woods scored a 13-over-par third round 85 which included six bogeys, two double bogeys and a quadruple bogey eight on the 18th hole.
The 14-time major champion, who made the cut by a single shot, improved Sunday with a 74, but his four round total of 302 was also his highest aggregate total as a professional.
Woods played Sunday without a partner and admitted after his round: “This is a lonely sport, but you just have to deal with it.”
He has just two weeks to improve his performance ahead of the U.S. Open, the second major of the season, at Chambers Bay.
Woods, struggling with swing changes under his new coach, has also carded his previous worst round, an 82 at the Phoenix Open, earlier this year.
Saturday marked only the third time Woods has carded in the 80s in his storied career.
The World No. 172 refused to speak with the media after his 85 but fronted up Sunday.
