Real Madrid made it five wins from five in Group D of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 6-2 rout of Dinamo Zagreb in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The Spanish league leaders rested Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Casillas and Pepe but still raced into a four goal lead inside 20 minutes.

Karim Benzema and Jose Callejon scored twice with Gonzalo Higuain and Mesut Ozil also on the scoresheet.

Fatos Beciraj and Ivan Tomecak grabbed consolation goals for the Croatian visitors in the second half, but they remained in bottom spot in the section without a point.

Manchester City shocked in Naples

Real coach Jose Mourinho was delighted by their performance. “Normally in games like this the players are without tension and play too relaxed, but tonight we treated it like a final and entertained the fans, our attitude was fantastic,” he told AFP.

Ajax and Olympique Lyon battled out a 0-0 draw in the other game in the group.

They will have to wait until the final round of matches to decide who goes through.

Dutch side Ajax have a three-point lead over Lyon and a better goal difference, but entertain free-scoring Real.

In Group B, Real’s fellow European powerhouses Inter Milan sealed their passage to the last 16 with a 1-1 draw with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The 2010 winners had already qualified for the knockout stages prior to kick-off after Lille beat CSKA Moscow 2-0 in Moscow but the draw meant they cannot be caught at the top.

Visitors Inter went ahead through Argentina midfielder Ricardo Alvarez after 18 minutes.

Veteran striker Halil Altintop equalized for the hosts as his long-range effort flew in after a deflection off Inter defender Walter Samuel.
