WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In his radio address Saturday, President Clinton underscored his intention to veto the Republican balanced-budget plan. Among other things, the plan calls for slowing the growth of Medicare and Medicaid over the next seven years.
In the Republican response, Senator Pete Domenici of New Mexico and Congressman John Kasich of Ohio said a balanced federal budget is essential to America's economic well-being.
